DEFSEC Gautrachs was on the verge of exploding both verbally
at the inconsequential gathering of generals at the table in front of
him and medically, as his blood pressure was soaring in fury. He lashed out randomly at the meeting’s
participants without provocation or even merit.
Although directed at the military leaders in the room, his fury was truly in response to a failure
in the plan. Five minutes had passed, and he had not received the weather
report he was due. Five minutes was
unacceptable. Five minutes meant failure.
The DEFSEC was calculating the alternatives in his head as he ignored
the discussion around him.
“This is a waste of my time!” the DEFSEC shouted as he
headed towards the door. “Reschedule this meeting when you have your shit
together!”
